The Department of Medical Statistics (MSD) undertakes broad-based research in applied projects and in statistical methodology. We have established a reputation for being a leading innovative centre for biostatistical methodology relevant to medical research.
Much of our research can be classified under four broad areas: statistical methodology, epidemiological statistics, clinical trials, and pharmaco-epidemiology. This covers a very wide range of applications across medicine and public health, with particular expertise in cardiovascular and neurological diseases. Short course: Essentials of Clinical Trials
Run by the Department of Medical Statistics, this course provides attendees with a clear understanding of the fundamental principles of Randomised Clinical Trials.
Clinical Trials Unit
The Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) is a fully-registered Clinical Trials Unit which leads on the design, conduct and analysis of high-quality clinical trials in the UK and internationally. Key research themes include cardiovascular health, emergency care and trauma, adolescent health, prevention of non-communicable diseases and sexual and reproductive health. CTU comprises staff with both subject and methodological expertise.
