Meet our Student Liaison Officers

We are delighted to have appointed 5 new MSc Student Liaison Officers (SLOs) to represent the Centre and be the voice of the student body this academic year.
Left to right: Abubakar Yerima Mohammed, Amy Jung, Anu Rangarajan, Ellie Harrison, Emmanuelle Auguste.

Abubakar Yerima Mohammed 鈥 MSc Health Policy, Planning and Financing

鈥淒uring my seven years of experience supporting governments in sub-Saharan Africa to strengthen primary health care systems, I realize that the lack of sufficient capacity to evaluate health programs and identify and replicate successful interventions in different settings are major barriers to achieving universal health care.鈥

As joint SLO with the MARCH Centre, Abubakar hopes to coordinate collaboration and establish a community of learning and practice in the evaluation of reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) interventions among LSHTM students and alumni.

Amy Jung - MSc Epidemiology

鈥淗aving worked as a research officer conducting monitoring and evaluation and randomised controlled trials at an NGO, I saw first-hand how powerful evaluation can be. Evaluation can bring about positive change to the world through providing evidence and accountability.鈥

Amy hopes to channel her passion for evaluation into promoting the work of the Centre, supporting the organisation of student events and forging new partnerships.

Anu Rangarajan 鈥 MSc Public Health for Development

鈥淚 am deeply committed to the use of rigorous evidence to improve program design and bring evidence-based solutions to inform policy and practice. I bring over 30 years of experience conducting evaluations in maternal and child health, nutrition, and WASH in LMICs, along with expertise in experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations, implementation science methods, and cost-effectiveness analyses.鈥

Anu is deeply committed to ensuring that diverse student voices are heard and represented in the Centre and aims to build links between the student body and the broader LSHTM global community.

Ellie Harrison - MSc Public Health

鈥淚 was drawn to the Centre for Evaluation due to its interdisciplinary nature - I want to bring together aspects across my modules to understand the process behind ensuring public health interventions maximise impact in the real world.鈥

Ellie is eager to learn about the evaluation of public health interventions whilst considering how the Centre can disseminate that knowledge to engage the LSHTM community.

Emmanuelle Auguste - MSc Public Health (Distance Learning)

鈥淢ost of my previous work has consisted of research on the mental health of Black Communities in Canada, where the optimal goal is to collect community data through social mobilization to develop culturally adapted evaluation tools and treatments.鈥

For Emmanuelle, this role is an important step towards becoming a public health professional, using the skills acquired to develop, implement, and evaluate health promotion interventions to improve access to quality healthcare.
