37th Annual Health Services Research Lecture: Professor Roland Bal

Governing health care quality after Covid. Will old ways suffice?

Citscape with high rise buildings

Good quality is not achieved on work floors, nor at the system level, but happens ‘in between’ services and needs constant negotiation, reflection and action. Governing quality needs to be decentered and layered.

In his lecture, Professor Roland Bal will present what has been learnt about governing quality in layered and fragmented systems. But following the pandemic, will our past learning suffice when faced with austerity and inadequate workforce?  Are our earlier insights still relevant or do we need new concepts? Should we redefine quality?
