My research applies evolutionary genetics to practical problems in malaria control. In particular I am interested in the emergence and spread of antimalarial drug resistance. My research involves mapping resistance in Africa to show patterns of mutation dispersal, and to inform policy on drug use for chemoprevention and treatment.

I am a module organiser for the Malaria Module in the DL MSc in Infectious Diseases IDM503.

Research
Im currently working on the Plus Project, where my role is to lead the genotyping work package. We are mapping the genetic determinants of antimalarial drug resistance in 7 Countries and determining the suitability of Sulphadoxine Pyrimethamine (SP) for Perennial Malaria Chemoprevention (PMC).
