Contact Yasmin SmithEducational/professional background
Hello everyone! I am Yasmin. I recently graduated from the Royal Veterinary College with a BSc in Bioveterinary Science and I am now studying for an MSc Control of Infectious Disease (CID) at LSHTM. Before enrolling at LSHTM, I worked as a Board Governance intern at the Environment Agency, and last year, I completed an internship at Oxford University's Pandemic Sciences Institute, focusing on Marburg and Ebola viruses.
Research interests or career goals
I am particularly interested in Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD), One Health and zoonotic diseases. I am currently seeking an overseas project involving work on Schistosomiasis. I aspire to work in a setting which would contribute to the health of society with both challenges and rewards.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM because many of my previous lecturers at the RVC, who taught topics I found fascinating, had also studied here. This demonstrated to me the school's reputation for excellence in infectious disease research and its ability to inspire impactful careers in the field.
Extra information
As a Next Generation Scholar, I would be happy to assist with any queries regarding the application process as well as any general questions about life at LSHTM and CID!
