Research interests or career goals

I’ve always been very interested in addressing the problem of vaccine hesitancy and intend to do a research project on this in my final year. As for career goals, I think I will remain primarily a clinician but the perspective that my public health training will add should enhance the way I perform my duties as an educator, researcher and clinician.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I’d been considering pursing an MPH for a couple of years but hadn’t really taken it seriously until COVID-19 happened and I was suddenly faced with the daunting challenge of leading my hospital’s response to the pandemic. I realized I had much more to learn, especially in terms of managing communities instead of just individual patients. LSHTM’s reputation is unparalleled in the field of public health and infectious diseases. In addition to this reputation is the flexibility of a distance learning program from an institution experienced in running  distance education, and the relatively cheaper cost (compared to US schools!). In the final analysis, enrolling in LSHTM was a no-brainer.
