Educational/professional background
I am a medical doctor with five years of clinical experience and two years of research experience with the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India as a Senior Research Fellow. These roles honed my problem solving, critical thinking, leadership, organizational and communication skills. While I was working on research projects in the public health domain, I was able to develop analytical skills as well and focus on methodologies aiming to promote health in the community through various interventions for their overall well-being.
Research interests or career goals
My main areas of interest are primary healthcare, epidemiology of infectious diseases, especially Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). I aim to create effective strategies of health promotion in developing countries to tackle some major public health challenges. Also, I strongly believe in the idea of sustainability for which I want to make possible contribution to policies and programmes intended to improve climate and planetary health.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
LSHTM is a world-renowned institution for public health and it was a dream come true when I received the offer letter to pursue MSc Public Health from this school. With some of the highly learned teaching professionals and researchers, the school provides a great environment for growth aiming to solidify the foundation of research among students. It is a very safe space to bloom not just in academics but in other co-curricular activities as well.
Any extra information
I successfully gained the position of Tutor Group Representative at LSHTM and was elected as Vice President (Communications and Activities) in the SRC Executive Council for the year 2023-24.
