Educational/professional background
I have an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Newcastle University and a master鈥檚 degree in International Health from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH).
Research interests or career goals
Prior to beginning my PhD, I worked in a variety of roles related to vaccine preventable diseases; vaccine adherence and uptake research with JHSPH, serological surveillance of measles and tetanus with JHSPH and the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), and congenital rubella syndrome surveillance with the US鈥檚 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
My PhD research is focused on rabies epidemiology and post exposure vaccine adherence in the Philippines.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
I chose the LSHTM-NU Joint PhD in Global Health as I have access to experts and study sites across two leading global health institutions. Each institution brings its strengths to the joint PhD. The doctoral training program at LSHTM provides an opportunity to gain applicable research skills and a diverse student body to learn from, while Nagasaki University has an established long-term field site in the Philippines enabling me to conduct my research project with essential support.
