Survivors

Join the UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) in marking their 3-year anniversary with a screening of the Emmy-nominated documentary “Survivors” followed by a panel discussion and reception.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion with international experts on Ebola, chaired by Prof. Peter Piot, co-discoverer of Ebola virus and Director of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Panellists will include:

Arthur Pratt, Director of Survivors

Prof. Daniel Bausch, Director, UK Public Health Rapid Support Team

Prof. Judith Glynn, Professor of Infectious Diseases Epidemiology, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

Dr. Joanne Liu, former International President of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

The UK-PHRST: The UK-PHRST is the primary arm of Her Majesty's Government to provide and coordinate the UK’s public health response to outbreaks in low- and middle-income countries. The UK-PHRST’s tripartite remit includes outbreak response, conducting research on outbreak-prone diseases, and building capacity for outbreak response in LMICs. Created in 2016 and funded by the UK Department of Health and Social Care, the UK-PHRST is a unique collaboration between the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Public Health England, with academic partners at the University of Oxford and King’s College London. Over its three-year history, UK-PHRST has been a major contributor to outbreak control in Africa and Asia, including the response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The UK-PHRST also maintains an active research and capacity building programme.
