- Dr Martin Chio

Dr Martin Chio is a Senior Consultant Dermatologist at the National Skin Centre Singapore and Advisor (formerly Head) of the DSC clinic. He is a member of National HIV Policy Committee. His interests are in STIs, genital & HIV dermatology, qualitative research, and skin cancers. He received his undergraduate training from the University of Bristol, UK and his basic speciality training in Internal Medicine in Singapore. He subsequently completed his advanced speciality training in Dermato-venereology at the National Skin Centre. He was awarded a National Medical Research Council medical research fellowship as part of the Ministry of Health Health Manpower Development Plan to pursue a Master’s of Science at University College London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine; he was awarded the 2007 best dissertation prize. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and the Academy of Medicine Singapore - he was the Chair of the Chapter of Dermatologists (2015 – 2019). He is an avid clinician educator and has been appointed Adj Associate Professor with both the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health & Duke-NUS Medical School, Adj Assistant Professor with the NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Clinical Senior Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine - he was awarded the YLLSOM Dean’s award for Teaching Excellence twice. He is a visiting consultant with the SAF Medical Corps & Tan Tock Seng Hospital and also an associate mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre. For his active volunteer work as a visiting dermatologist at both the Dover Park Hospice and Villa Francis home for the aged, he was awarded the Healthcare Humanity Award
