Malaria Centre Retreat 2019

Malaria Centre Retreat
Just what you’ve been waiting for…registration is now open for this year’s Malaria Centre retreat! It promises to be just as brilliant as previous years - all School staff and research degree students are invited to attend, spaces are limited so don’t delay booking your spot.

Retreat plans
The Retreat will run for two days in April (11-12), including presentations, poster displays and turbo talks in a similar format to past events. You can view the programme from 2018. Lively debate is highly encouraged, and this will be followed by a keynote speaker and then a reception.

Presenting at the Retreat
If you are interested in presenting at the retreat, please submit a title for your presentation when you register. It’s a great opportunity to discover and discuss research from across the Centre and celebrate the work of our members.

We have three presentation options -

Oral presentation: 10-12 minutes to present 10-12 slides (maximum), with a few minutes Q&A.

Turbo talk: 1 minute to present 1 slide - how concise can you be?

Poster: dimensions TBC.

Funding for the Retreat
The Centre is seeking to find fair ways to maximise the cost-recovery. Please contact your research group or principle for information about covering the cost of your attendance. Otherwise, there are options to pay by debit/credit card.

Paying by grant code? No need to complete an IATJ form anymore! When registering, just provide a grant code, the name of the administrator that manages the budget and ensure you have the relevant approval. We will then submit this to finance who will be in touch with the relevant approver to confirm the cost allocation.

If you are not able to pay, then the Centre may be able to cover the cost of your attendance – please email Malaria@lshtm.ac.uk with “2019 Retreat” in the subject line, explaining the circumstances.

Other tickets options are available, please contact malaria@lshtm.ac.uk for more information

Places at the retreat are limited to 100 attendees and so first priority will go to those who are able to cover the cost for their attendance, and to those who are presenting. If more than 100 people are able to cover their costs, then priority will go to those who registered first.

If fewer than 100 people are able to cover their cost, then registration will be allocated to those who cannot cover their cost, in order of date of email received. Those who are unable to cover their cost will be notified if their registration was successful after the 11 March.
