LSHTM and Global Health Film series: 2040

Global Health Film and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine are delighted to announce a new partnership to deliver virtual global health film screenings and expert panel discussions through the year. The first season of film screenings will start at 17.15 on Thursday 10 December with the film 2040.

are a registered UK charity using storytelling through film, animation and immersive reality to spark discussion, enhance understanding, and effect positive social change in all areas of global health including planetary health, access to healthcare, mental health, infectious disease, and refugee and migrant health.

is an inspiring film, directed by Damon Gameau, about initiatives that exist to tackle planetary health issues and the technology already at our disposal that we can all use to make a difference. The panel discussion will take place between 18.50 and 19.30.

 

Speakers

  • Joy Phumaphi is co-chair of the UN Secretary General’s Independent Accountability Panel for Women, Children, and Adolescent Health, a distinguished African American Institute Fellow, and Executive Secretary of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance.
  • Fanny Calder is Director of Communications, Campaigns, Movement Building and Culture at the Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and has been campaigning on climate change for more than 30 years.
  • Charlie Dearman is a medical doctor by background.  He is currently a student on the Public Health Masters Course at LSHTM and a Planetary Health Network student ambassador.
  • Sir Andy Haines is Professor of Environmental Change and Public Health and co-chair of the Pathfinder Initiative on health in the zero-carbon economy.

The panel will be chaired by Alan Dangour, Director of the Centre on Climate Change and Planetary Health.
