Is gambling a global health problem?

Gambling is increasingly being framed as a public health issue due to growing recognition of the diverse gambling-related harms and the far-reaching consequences these have for individuals, their families and communities. The gambling industry also uses tactics that echo those used by multi-national tobacco and alcohol companies to induce and maintain demand.

However, is gambling a truly global health issue that requires a coordinated international response, or can the gambling industry be successfully regulated at the national level? Can the global health impact of gambling even be measured? Is now the time for the precautionary principle to apply? Join us at the Global Health Lab to find out!
