Community mobilisation to improve women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health in India

What works, what doesn’t, what next?

This talk will offer an overview of recent evidence on the effects of community mobilisation to improve women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health in India, debate potential mechanisms behind these effects, and highlight gaps for future research. We will conclude by weighing the potential benefits of community mobilisation against the potential harms posed by a ‘tyranny of participation’ in group-based interventions.

Audrey Prost is a social anthropologist with epidemiological training. She joined LSHTM in 2018.  Her research focuses on designing and evaluating community interventions to improve maternal, child and adolescent health in India. She is particularly interested in participatory interventions and community engagement methods.
