Centre for Evaluation Retreat 2016

Centre for Evaluation Retreat 2016

Improving global health practice through evaluation

Thursday 10th November

We encourage you to register soon as spaces are filling up!

Register at .

If you are unable to cover the registration cost from grant or department funding, please email evaluation@lshtm.ac.uk.

The 2016 LSHTM Centre for Evaluation Retreat will be held in London on 10th November 2016 (during reading week). All LSHTM staff and research degree students who are members of the Centre for Evaluation are invited to attend. (If you have not joined the Centre yet, simply add your email to the Sympa mailing list )

Present your work at the retreat

We will have a series of speed talks (strictly five minutes with 1-2 slides) on the following two topics and strongly encourage applications from LSHTM staff and research degree students who would like to present their work:

1. Assessing context and its influence on outcomes

2. Opportunistic evaluations of programmes and systems (using quasi-experimental methods or natural experiments)

This is a great opportunity to highlight your work and please feel free to interpret the session titles loosely. If you would like to give one of these talks, please send an outline of up to 100 words in length to evaluation@lshtm.ac.uk with 鈥2016 Retreat speed talks鈥 in the subject line, including the name of the presenter.

The deadline for submission is the end of October. Please feel free to email any questions (including whether your work fits within these topics) to evaluation@lshtm.ac.uk, again with 鈥2016 Retreat speed talks鈥 in the subject line.

Programme

This will be a full day focussed on a range of topics within Evaluation, including 鈥渢he role of evaluation in policy development鈥, 鈥渁ssessing context and its influence on outcomes鈥 and 鈥渙pportunistic evaluations of programmes and systems鈥.

Speakers include Howard White (Campbell Collaboration), Chris Bonell (LSHTM), Helen Burchett (LSHTM), Edoardo Masset (3ie) and Laurence Moore (Glasgow). There will be lots of time for discussion and it will end with drinks and canap茅s. It will be held at Prospero House in Borough. The detailed agenda will be released in due course.

Registration

To register for the event please use this link .

The cost for us to put on the retreat is about 拢100 per person and the Centre is seeking to find fair ways to maximise the cost-recovery. Several groups/departments have agreed to cover the cost of their staff to attend, so please contact your group/department head to see if this is the case.  If you are unable to cover the cost of the retreat from department funds, please email evaluation@lshtm.ac.uk.

However, places at the retreat are limited to 90 attendees and so first priority will go to those who are able to cover the 拢100 cost for their attendance. If more than 90 people are able to cover their costs, then priority will go to those who registered first.  If fewer than 90 people are able to cover their cost, then registration will be allocated to those who cannot cover their cost, in order of date of email received. Those who are unable to cover their cost will be notified if their registration was successful after the 1st November.

AGM on the 11th November:

The Centre for Evaluation AGM will be held on the following morning. It is aimed at all those who would like to contribute to the running and strategy of the Centre, with a particular focus on plans for the next year. It will be held in Jerry Morris A&B at Tavistock Place from 10am to 1pm.
