I am a medical statistician carrying out methodological development and health services research using 'big data'. Since 2011 I have worked in the Clinical Effectiveness Unit (CEU), a collaboration between LSHTM and the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng). I am Senior Statistician for the National Cancer Audit Collaborating Centre (NATCAN) in the CEU, established in October 2022 to deliver 10 national cancer audits. Within NATCAN I am also the lead methodologist for the National Bowel Cancer Audit and the National Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Audit. My link between RCSEng and LSHTM provides a unique environment for methodological research, bringing together methodological expertise, national clinical data, clinical and patient collaborators. I lead the International Collaboration of Colorectal Cancer Outcomes Registries (ICORC).

Research
The four key themes of my research are:
1. Data linkage: Bringing together multiple sources of clinical information through linkage of national clinical datasets.
2. Healthcare performance monitoring in the real world: Statistical issues with monitoring the performance of clinicians and clinical teams over time.
3. Risk prediction: Development of risk-adjustment models and risk prediction models for clinical decision-making.
4. Inequalities in healthcare: Identifying inequalities care and outcomes in healthcare.
