Ms Mamtuti Panneh

Research Student - MPhil/PhD - Epidemiology & Population Health

United Kingdom

I am a PhD student with the Commonwealth PhD Scholarship. I use mixed methods to investigate violence, poor mental health and harmful substance use among female sex workers in Nairobi, Kenya and how these factors relate to cortisol levels in the body (using hair samples). My research is longitudinal, nested within the 鈥淢aisha Fiti鈥 study of women in Nairobi, Kenya.
Before commencing my PhD, I worked as a research assistant at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden (2019-2021) and was an intern at the Manhi莽a Health Research Centre in Mozambique (2018-2019). I was also a former lab technician at the Medical Research Council Unit, The Gambia @LSHTM (2010-2013).
I completed my MSc in Global Health at the University of Gothenburg, attained a BSc in International Health and Nursing Administration at The National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences, Taiwan and holds a Diploma in Biomedical Science at St. George鈥檚 University of London, UK.
