Edmond is a Chartered Statistician and part of the Secretariat of the Global Burden of Disease Independent Advisory Committee (IAC), funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The IAC, chaired by Prof Sir Peter Piot - former Director of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, is an international expert advisory committee providing strategic oversight to the Global Burden of Disease study based at the University of Washington. Edmond serves as an expert statistician in the IAC Secretariat, supporting the committee's evolving programme and strategic planning. He also serves as a panel member of the Scientific Review Committee for The Health Improvement Network (THIN), is a member of the European Burden of Disease Network (EBoDN), and has co-guest edited a research topic by Frontiers in Public Health.
Previously, he was an assistant professor in medical statistics, conducting research in statistical methodology in public health and health economics at the LSHTM. He also worked as a Research Officer at the Centre for Multilevel Modelling of the Institute of Education in London and as a Research Statistician in pharmacoepidemiology at the Clinical Research Practice Datalink (CPRD) of the UK medicine and medical device regulator, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), and Senior Research Executive in the Research and Statistics Unit of the now defunct UK national film agency, UK Film Council. Edmond holds a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Warwick and an MSc in Biometry from the University of Reading.
Edmond鈥檚 research interests include Monte-Carlo methods for mixed models, statistical methods for health economics, pharmacoepidemiology, disease burden estimation, statistical computing (author of the prototype graphic user interface (GUI) of the advanced multilevel modelling software REALCOM and two user-contributed Stata commands, tsb* and tsbceprob*), and animation of health data.
