Professor in Epidemiology and Evaluation
I am a Professor in Epidemiology and Evaluation with a focus in social epidemiology and public health evaluation. My primary interest has been in the socioeconomic epidemiology of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in sub-Saharan Africa and in developing and evalauting interventions to address these public health issues. I direct the MeSH Consortium.

Teaching
I co-developed, co-organise and do much of my teaching the Term 2 module in Evaluation of Public Health Interventions. I also teach and give lectures on a variety of other courses in Basic Epidemiology, Social Epidemiology, the summer Intensive Courses in Epidemiology and Meidcal Statistics, AIDS, Health Promotion Theory and Principles and Practice of Health Promotion. I also contribute to teaching on the first term course Extended Epidemiology.
Research
I specialise in quantitative and mixed-method research on how interventions and policies, especially those influencing social determinants, influence infectious diseases and social inequalities in these. My research has used a wide array of methods including cluster randomised trials, systematic reviews, cohort, case-control and cross-sectional studies as well as mixed-methods research incorporating qualitative, policy analysis and participatory techniques
