I organise and teach on the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs module, and contribute to Evaluation of Public Health Interventions and Principles of Social Research. I am particularly interested in supervising students on topics related to health and social care integration or mental health and care provision.

I am Faculty Research Degrees Director for Public Health and Policy.

Research

My interests cover a range of topics related to health services research, including the assessment of service and care provision for individuals with health problems (including chronic conditions, mental health and addiction problems), the evaluation of treatment effectiveness, the roles of health professionals in service development, organisation and delivery, and health and social care integration. I use both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Since joining LSHTM in 2006 I have been involved in a study evaluating the modernisation of adult critical care services in England, an evaluation of an intervention designed to reduce tap water scalding, and an evaluation of Community Foundation Trusts pilots, and an evaluation of the Public Health Responsibility Deal. I am Co-PI with Professor Nicholas Mays on the national Evaluation of the Integrated Care and Support Pioneers in England.
