I am a health economist. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in statistics and econometrics and a master's degree in statistics and economics, with a focus on quantitative economics and the study of social issues. I'm about to graduate from the Gaston Berger University in Senegal with a PhD in economics. I will defend my thesis entitled "Three essays on systemic risk related to public securities on the WAEMU regional market" in May 2024. Prior to joining LSHTM, I was a research assistant, lecturer, and consultant in various institutions in West Africa, like UNESCO Regional Office, the West African citizenship think tank, with expertise in data analysis and statistical modeling on health, climate change, and macroeconomic conditions.

Teaching
Before joining the LSHTM, I lectured in political economy, analysis and modeling of economic interactions, data processing and descriptive statistics to bachelor's and master's students at the Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal. My responsibilities also included leading tutorials and assessing students' knowledge and understanding. I also co-supervised the Master's theses in economics of some of my students at the Institute of Public Policy at Cheikh Anta Diop University.
Research
I am interested in the challenging field of health financing, particularly in the context of sub-Saharan Africa. I seek to understand the issue of the equity and efficiency of health system financing. I explored the various dimensions of this field as a consultant to the MRCG, between March 2022 and January 2024. My assignment involved analyzing the equity and efficiency of financing for reproductive, maternal, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH) in Senegal and West Africa as part of the Countdown to 2030 project. These analyses were made possible by the use of the Muskoka2 workbook, which estimates RMNCH aid for over 140 countries worldwide.
I use robust quantitative methods to analyze large data sets (Creditor Reporting System Database, Global Health Expenditure Database), in order to analyze health financing flows and their impact on health outcomes. My work involves the use of advanced econometric models and software such as Stata and R to carry out the analyses.
Through my research, I aim to contribute to the development of more effective health policies and governance structures that can foster sustainable health systems and improve community well-being in West Africa and beyond.
